Religious Freedom Day

The right of Religous Freedom, it was drafted in 1777 by Thomas Jefferson, and placed before the Virginia General Assembly who later enacted it into law. This writing became the basis for the First Ammendment protecting Religious Freedom. In 1993 the President of the United States declared it a national day, the date chosen was January 16. This was the day in the first month of the year when it later became law in Virginia.
Religious Freedom day celebrates the right to worship freely in a free country. It is on this day we recognize that not all countries share this blessing. Let us pray for every Christian in persecuted countries every day, but on this day, let us especially pray that our freedoms, become theirs as well.
